In grade school I was awarded a ribbon for Best Boy Athlete at Alice Peck Elementary in 1973
In my youth I was intensely involved with tennis and played from dawn until dark during the spring through fall months.
I began my Track & Field Career at Sleeping Giant Junior High, where I set a high jump record of 5.8' in 1976 and broke the long jump record a year later with a leap of 19.7 3/4'
I also held records in the 220 yard dash in 24.0 and the 440 yard dash in 53.5
At the high school level, I was considered an essential member of the only undefeated Track Team at Hamden High with 14 wins and no losses in 1978
I was the first Sophmore to receive the MVP Trophy, an award that is usually reserved for the most talented senior in 1978
To this day I am very honored to have been a part of the 1978-1980 Track Teams
It was an exciting, rewarding and enlightening time of my life!

A 22.3 3/4' jump was set in 1955 at the first meet by Frank Duberry of Hillhouse High School
I broke my own school record of 22.3 1/2', in addition to the meets long jump record with a leap of 23.1 1/2'
